David Bates, MD, MSc
is Medical Director of Clinical Quality & Analysis at Partners HealthCare. He is also Chief of the Division of General Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a Full Professor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and a Professor for the Department of Health Policy and Management, Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Bates is a pioneer in evaluating healthcare information technologies and led the research that showed that Computerized Provider Order Entry reduced the rate of serious medication errors by 55%.
John Glaser, PhD
is Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Partners HealthCare, responsible for the strategic direction of IT and the success of IT initiatives. Previously, he was Vice President of Information Systems at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and managed the Healthcare Information Systems consulting practice at Arthur D. Little. Glaser has led the establishment of a pre-eminent healthcare IT organization at Partners, serving more than 10,000 physicians and nurses.
Blackford Middleton, MD, MPH, MSc
is Chairman of CITL's Executive Committee, Director of Clinical Informatics Research & Development for Partners HealthCare, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Previously, he was Medical Director of Information Management and Technology at Stanford Health Services and Senior Vice President for Clinical Informatics and Chief Medical Officer for MedicaLogic/Medscape. Dr. Middleton has focused his research on clinical decision support systems, systems integration, and patient computing.
Douglas Johnston
is the Executive Director of CITL, where he leads the development and execution of research strategy and operations. Mr. Johnston has a diverse background in health care IT research and public policy. Prior to CITL, he served as the Director of Research at the New England Healthcare Institute; an analyst at Forrester Research; and a Senior Consultant with Ernst & Young, LLP.
